    ORISON REQUEST

    By Abdul Shaban

What if the hand would fall for the leg,

    Get married and bear children,

Regardless of the looks, the number of toes or fingers,

    How would life have been?

Rivers ain’t flowing from the same source anymore,

    No romance without finance,

Good looks go with a sense of humour,

If you ain’t armed you ain’t qualified!

You are the song my heart sings,

A beauty I’d love to wife,

A house to forever build on,

The lyrics are so new to forget…

    Afraid of this vacuum I’m,

Pieces to fill it are scattered,

Life is slowly getting out of hand,

A blade of grass tightly onto I hold,

Fearing stealthily it might slide out.

    It’s a prayer humbly I make,

Fight the battle for our sake,

A proposal am ready to make,

    Physicians, save my rib!

Ears lament at the screams of corrupt voices

That emerge from closed doors of political offices

Culture is devoured like those nailed on crosses

The system mourns like sufferers of many loses

Skirts descend to the ground like defeated forces

Women are ploughed like gardens by their bosses

Their bodies are jumped on and ridden like horses

Nepotism has suffered from unknown sources

Honesty and integrity are nothing but corpses

Sex and money are what leadership endorses

Female workers are now victims of divorces

Dignity has surly left the bureaucratic process…

    Mama

    (Picha kwa hisani ya Dreamstime.com)

    {Limetungwa na Abdul Shaban}

Uzima na afya tele, zitue kwako we mama,

    Ninakupenda milele, sikuchukii daima,

Mazuri yakutawale, na upate mwisho mwema,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

    Leo nimeketi chini, kukutungia shairi,

Macho kwako hayaoni, isipokuwa ni kheri,

Haunikifu moyoni, kila siku u mzuri,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

    Mepita nyingi dahari, sikuwahi kutokea,

Japo ni ya mola siri, kuingia kwenye dunia,

    Kwako we nikadhihiri, tumboni ukanilea,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

Mahaba ya kila hali, mama ulinonyeshea,

Nikilia we hulali, shida wataka kujua,

    Nisipokula hauli, na mengine wayajua,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

    Mukanikuza kwa tabu, sana nikawasumbua,

    Wala hamkujaribu, mbali kunitupilia,

    Sasa napata majibu, thamani nawapatia,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

    Mama ulinifundisha, pale nilipokosea,

    Hukutaka kunichosha, mi nilipojichokea,

    Menifundisha maisha, njia nisijepotea,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

Wewe kwangu ndiye dira, mana umeniongoza,

    Na kama nikikukera, usisite kunijuza,

    Nakuombea akhera, akuridhie muweza,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

Beti niandike kumi, mia elfu malaki,

Kwangu ni kama kichomi, pumzi hazivutiki,

Sifa zako hazikomi, tena hazina breki,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

    Wasijepumbazwa watu, wazazi kuwadharau,

    Wakome wasithubutu, hata kwa uangalau,

    Tuwavesheni viatu, jama tusiwasahau,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

Kwa upendo na bashasha, ninajivunia mama,

Na hapa ndo nakatisha, mishororo kuisema,

Du’a kwako nazidisha, ulipo uwe salama,

Nakuita jina mama, kwa upendo na bashasha.

    Liwafikie akina mama wote ulimwenguni

There blossom a flower of peace

Here falls a kingdom to pieces

A child doesn’t care to say please

    Doctors leaves patients to bleed

In the sky appears the red moon

Everyone is not a friend but a goon

    The birds changed their tune

It is getting darker in the noon

The earth beneath changed to a prison

Human shut thier memories in treason

Ain’t anyone caring for each other person

    Fashion, just caring about compassion

Is it better when I say we lost?

Our personalities are just like a horse

Running a race and win the host

Little do we know we end up ghosts

We are like flowers we blossom today

When the sun rise we wilt in the day

There is no future no tomorrow

All will be buried in the rows

I woke up from my thoughts

Found myself with a flower in my right hand

Soil in my left hand and water in my mouth

I just want the flower of peace grow

I just saw the world this way

Even at my darkest I still bloom,
At my lowest at my doom.

    A lilly from the valleys,
    A lone soul without allies.

I watch my shadow with delight,
    Staring down from the height.

    With happiness my face ignites,
Am not a bunch, not a bonquette.

Staring at what’s behind the wall,
Cuz I’ve been there I’ve seen it all.

A black rose that blooms on earth,
In a planet where am unheard.

Humming the melodies of the birds,
Making my way to unknown lands.

Inhaling the tender grapes with good smell,
For a soul that’s walked straight outta hell, yet sees the best in it all.

Like a dove that art in cleft of rocks,
Like a flightless bird whose wing just broke.

For so long I hid behind the stairs,
But now I rise with answered prayers.

A black rose I still bloom,
At my lowest at my doom.

Its not my life I am trying to endanger,
Life is a journey I want to be your passenger,

Keep the roses I like the smell of ginger,
Maybe am just crazy I want to be your ninja,

And forget the dinner suit no I like it with your working apron,
It makes more sense coz the latter only gives sexy pics to upload,

And come on…I love how you lift that load,
Is that what you’d do to me coz you look so bold?

And yes we just met but what if you mean my lifetime?
I want to see us struggle together through our rough times,

Sorry I didn’t say my name- call me Safaricom, I am your better option,
The girl who its you I see so do I call you an optician,

And I didn’t choose you for lack of a better option,
Its love by first sight and that you can caption,

No don’t stare tell me when we should move in together,
And it takes too much courage for me to gather,

Maybe because you don’t look like a girlfriend you look like a mother,
So how about we conduct our masses in bed so my children get a mother?

And don’t you worry I will be with you forever in quarantine,
All seasons through celebrating each day of Valentine,

Tell me are you in for this skeptical idea?
Coz my gasses in you are ideal,

Stranger with you I want forever,
    By your side till whenever,

To wake you everyday at dawn,
Not with the alarm am talking of moans,

Promise me your world I came along with the moon,
With no guarantee I want our first kiss in honeymoon.

    You are a beautiful soul,
I verbalize my love just to sow,
I think we meet at a dream I saw,
Told you my name, you didn’t say “..So..”

    Ask you to be mine,
    After taking some wine,
You blush and gave a silent whine,
You wanted me to be your love line,

    Our amour has endeavor,
    Much pain or whatsoever,
It just wanted us to be clever,
    Perhaps be together forever,

    You be my queen,
Maybe you wanna be my pen quill,
My volatile moods you just quell,
You are forever in my side never to quit,

The night zephyr is so breezy,
To have add infinitum amour isn’t easy,
Am too romantic making you feel cheesy,
    Imagine I bought you Pepsi,

    Even though you ain’t here,
    I still feel you near,
Your scent all over none to dare,
Your angelic voice is all I hear,

Am in tears since I can’t see you mine,
I wanna see you, even if it is a crime,
You are innocent you just gave me time,
Fight just for me to prime,

    Fought with the drug dealer,
For me not to be an addict of taquila,
    You are my great pillar,
When your soul is torn I be your healer,

    Beautiful soul with passion,
Just because of me you are in prison,
No eye witness to this even one person,
Am not good but I keep up with fashion,

I really miss you my joy,
I got many things to do like chores,
But my mind is in total chaos,
For you being jailed is my cause,

I got hope we shall meet,
    Have fun and even eat,
I will protect you from the sun heat,
Am faithful,I promise I will not cheat,

We shall meet again my angel,
To me you are an angel,
    Sent to save me,
    Am sorry for the mess,

    My beautiful soul…

Zama zimerudi tena, kwenye hali ya siasa,

    Sasa hawa waungwana, watayamwaga mapesa,

    Nami nawaasa sana, kutorudia makosa,

Ama tutakujajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

    Wengi tulowachaguwa, tukiwadhani wakweli,

    Uchumi watainuwa, ziinuke zetu hali,

    Katika kila hatuwa, hatukuipata sahali,

Sasa tusije kujuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

    Vyama walivyovijenga, visitutie tamaa,

    Heri mtu kujipanga, tukakataa hadaa,

Wametufanya wajinga, na hakuna la kufaa,

Kwayo tusitake juta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

Wengi wako kwa tamaa, na malengo ya binafsi,

Huku wanatuhadaa, kwamba eti wako nasi,

Vyeo wakisha vitwaa, ndio hao huwa basi,

Tusipige tukajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

    Tuwatizame matendo, tusiyashike maneno,

Asofaa tupa kando, angatowa donge nono,

Huyo kaja kwa mawindo, wako wengi kwa mfano,

Tukiwapa tutajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

Kura yako usiuze, jitahidi kuwa wima,

    Wakisema wasikize, huku uwe wawapima,

    Wasofaa tuwapuuze, hawafai kusimama,

Au sivyo tutajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

  • IN MY CITY

    IN MY CITY

    By Abdul Shaban

    {abdoolmtyro@gmail.com}

    In my city

    The pavements are not perfect

But every corner has a bustling market

    In my city

Music is in the hearts and air

But many dreams are strapped on to the chair

    In my city

    Traffic is chaotic and crazy

    And here some go hungry

    In my city

Movie stars rub shoulders with the common man

But he is a “star” and this is eventually a “fan”

    In my city

Anything can be found on sale on the streets

But you need to be smart, no depth of cheats

    In my city

This vendor will sell his items by the end of the day

Glad to have struck a deal in his own way

    In my city

There is so much to do

But everything has a price, you pay your chew

    In my city

I feel safe wherever I go

But there are alleys where you may get a blow

    In my city

The heat and humidity is at times unbearable

But it is here that cold is some times another hurdle

    In my city

The pavements may not be perfect

But every road, lane, footpath and garden always does connect

This is NAIROBI… a city of dreams

Live and let live… the aura here screams.
