In a thrilling showdown on Saturday at the King Fahd Stadium, Cristiano Ronaldo, at 38 years of age, single-handedly propelled 10-man Al-Nassr to a momentous triumph in the Arab Club Champions Cup. The legendary footballer’s masterful performance included netting two crucial goals in a riveting 2-1 extra-time conquest over Saudi rivals Al-Hilal. This victory marks Al-Nassr’s inaugural title in the prestigious tournament.

Ronaldo’s journey with Al-Nassr had initially met with a trophy-less spell following his transfer. The team, finishing as runners-up in the Saudi Pro League, saw Ronaldo’s exceptional prowess come to the forefront, as he secured an astounding six goals throughout the tournament. This commendable feat not only bolstered his team’s performance but also granted him the distinction of being the tournament’s top scorer on the path to securing the championship.

Lionel Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami has sparked a remarkable transformation in the team’s performance, resulting in a five-game winning streak in the Leagues Cup since his debut in July. In his latest performance, Messi scored his eighth goal in five games, securing a 4-0 victory over Charlotte FC in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals.

Inter Miami’s success can be attributed to Messi’s influence on the team. The Argentine’s dazzling skills and scoring ability have raised the gameplay of his teammates, turning Inter Miami into a more formidable side. The team’s ownership, including co-owner David Beckham, has been actively involved and present at matches, enhancing the atmosphere of Messi-mania.

Moisés Caicedo has conveyed to Liverpool his exclusive desire to join Chelsea. Staying true to his commitment, Caicedo is sticking with Chelsea, having reached personal terms agreement since late May.

Chelsea is preparing another bid to finalize the deal with Brighton after the recent developments.

Liverpool’s British record bid of £111 million ($140 million) to secure the Ecuadorian services was accepted by Brighton and medicals scheduled.

Chelsea have persued Caicedo as their main summer transfer target and are not willing to give up on him yet until all the paperwork is done.

France Vs Morocco concluded the Round of 16 fixtures as Les Bleues run riot against the Moroccans to come out a the resounding 4-0 victors. A brace from Le Sommer and goals from both Diani and Dali ensured Les Blues progressed to the last 8.

Meanwhile the World Cup holders USA saw a shock exit against Sweden after a 0-0 draw that sent the match into extra time and eventually shootouts. USA’s Megan Rapinoe, Sophia Smith and Kelly O’Hara failed to convert their penalties whereas Sweden’s winning penalty from Lina Hurtig had to be reviewed by VAR before being eventually given.

In another narrowly decided match England edged Nigeria 4-2 on penalties to get through to the last 8. Nigeria’s Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie failed to convert their penalties before England’s Chloe Kelly won it for the Three Lionesses.

Netherlands edged South Africa 2-0 with goals from Jill Roord and Lineth Beerensteyn.

Denmark Vs Australia ended with a 2-0 scoreline as well in favour of the Matildas with goals from Caitlin Foord and Hayley Raso.

Colombia secured a spot in the final 8 for the very first time after a narrow win over Jamaica. Maria Usme netted the winner that saw Colombia through.

Japan eased past Norway with goals from Risa Shimizu and Hinata Miyazawa. Japan pulled one back through Guro Reiten but an early own goal ensured the match ended 3-1 in Japan’s favour

In the highest scoring match of the round, Spain thrashed Switzerland 5-1 to go through to the last 8. A brace from Aitana Bonmati and goals from Alba Redondo, Laia Codina and Jenni Hermoso saw the Spaniards through despite an own goal.

Spain will now take on the Netherlands as England take on the Colombia. Japan will take on Sweden as France take on Colombia.

Arsenal’s new signings Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber all started but failed to make an impact as Man City won.

Havertz tested Stefan Ortega twice in the first half but failed to convert on both occasions.

The breakthrough came after Pep Guardiola made many substitutions, with De Bruyne and Palmer going on, and the duo combined to secure the win for Man City, with Palmer scoring in the 77th minute.

However, there was late drama when Leandro Trossard equalized in the 11th minute of stoppage time.

Following Martin Odegaard’s conversion, De Bruyne was up first for City in the penalty shootout, and the Belgian slammed his shot against the crossbar.

Trossard came next, sending Ortega the wrong way to convert his spot-kick, before Bernardo Silva did the same.

Bukayo Saka scored smoothly as Arsneal maintained control.

Rodri was up next for City, but Aaron Ramsdale stopped his shot before Fabio Vieira scored into the top corner to give Arteta’s side the win.

Switzerland perfect defensive record in the competition was undone in just five minutes against Spain. Their defense was breached by midfielder Bonmati, who scored the first goal for La Roja.

The Spanish team continued to dominate, adding more goals through Bonmati, Alba Redondo, Laia Codina, and Jenni Hermoso, resulting in an impressive 5-1 victory.

Bonmati, Redondo, and Hermoso have all tallied three goals each in the tournament, showcasing their goal-scoring prowess.

For Codina, her 45th-minute goal was a moment of redemption, as she had previously scored an unfortunate own goal with a misguided pass that shocked goalkeeper Cata Coll from 40 yards out.

Spain secured a second-place finish in Group C, with comprehensive wins against Costa Rica and Zambia, scoring a combined 8-0, before experiencing an unexpected 4-0 defeat to Japan.

Coach Jorge Vilda made strategic changes to the team, including replacing goalkeeper Maria Rodriguez with Coll, ahead of Saturday’s match.

Having achieved their best World Cup finish to date, Switzerland, ranked 20th, matched their previous round of 16 exit in their sole World Cup appearance in 2015.

Now, Spain advances to face the winner of the round of 16 game between the Netherlands and South Africa, and the fans anticipate more exciting clashes in the competition.
